“For one thing, my now-husband and I bonded over our love for country music, so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart that way. Plus, Ontario artists are just cool! They connect with their fans and really just want to share the music they love to create and play with people who love to hear it. It’s a genuine intention, one that doesn’t seem motivated by glitz, fame and cash. I’ve never heard an interview or a song by an Ontario artist that made me think, “Wow, s/he’s not staying true to their roots!”
And also: there are so many artists to love! Tim Hicks, Cold Creek County, Meghan Patrick, Autumn Hill, and so many more, and they all bring different styles & sounds to create a dynamic, exciting scene.
And let’s not forget that Ontario is one of the greatest places to see acts live, wherever they hail from! Outdoor festivals, appearances at events like the CNE, the Molson Amphitheatre, and smaller, intimate venues like Boots n Bourbon – we have a stage for every performer! Not to mention Ontario’s climate lends itself naturally to boots, cutoff jeans and flannel shirts almost year-round.
So seriously. Anybody who thinks Ontario isn’t a haven for country music can just go jump in the lake – leaves more room for me at the shows!
Sincerely, one seriously huge country music fan who drives a pick-up truck, wears a ballcap, boots, and jeans, and knows the best place to park & watch the stars in the bed,
Courtney”
